ApHC Board Votes to Freeze Fees for 2020 National Show; Slashes Late Fees

MOSCOW, IDAHO – With a close eye on COVID-19 developments, the ApHC Board of Directors continues to make preparations for this year’s 73rd Appaloosa National Horse Show & Youth World Championship in Fort Worth, Texas, spanning June 20-July 3.
Today, the ApHC released the show’s premium book, and announced a number of important changes approved by the Board, which are intended to benefit participants during these uncertain times created by the coronavirus pandemic. (Find the Premium Book here: https://www.appaloosa.com/pdfs/20N_PremiumBook.pdf.)
Most importantly, entry deadlines are being pushed back, late entry fees are being slashed, and the ApHC has waived the requirement that youth participants must be a member of a Regional Club since so many shows have been canceled as a result of the pandemic.
“As a Board and as an organization, we are working hard to create the safest possible environment for our members and staff,” said ApHC President Ken Johnson. “We are in constant contact with officials in Fort Worth in an effort to stay on top of rapidly-changing developments. I commend the Board for unanimously approving a number of important changes to the show which will benefit participants, including the fact that there will be no fee increases for stalls or entries.”
To assist participants in making plans for the show, entry deadlines are as follows:
May 26 for hard-copy, mail-in entries;
May 27 stall reservation deadline;
May 29 for entries processed using the online entry system;
May 29 RV reservation deadline.
Additionally, post-entry late fees have been reduced to $25 per class for youth; $50 for non-pro; and $60 for open classes.
“While planning for the show continues, we have been forced, sadly, to cancel both of our 2019 year-end banquets because of COVID-19,” Johnson continued. “There are just too many unknowns at this point, and the safety of our members and staff remains paramount. But the achievements of our show, race and trail communities will not go unnoticed. The banquets tentatively have been rescheduled for October 29 at the ApHC World Championship Show.”
Johnson added that alternative plans are also being developed to honor youth year-end and lifetime award winners. Those plans will be announced soon.
The ApHC Board of Directors will hold a special meeting on May 13 to discuss COVID-19 developments, including the rescheduling of cancelled Regional Shows.
